Lesson Title: Digital Story Telling

GOALS
Description of the Lesson:
The students will create a public service announcement that is related to what we have been learning over the past few weeks about nutrition, diet and exercise. One of the students will work on creating an account on teacher tube while the others brainstorm to create the script for the PSA. The PSA will be based on all the information the students have used in their voice thread, and power point. The students will gather information from the internet and activities that will prevent obesity.

Instructional objective(s):
The students are going to use a KWL chart and view my voice thread for basic information to go along with the research they have done on other projects. Then they are going to go to the computer lab 3 times a week for two weeks to create, shoot, and edit their PSA. As a final product the students will upload their PSA on to teacher tube after being approved.
Creating this PSA will demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and technology operations. The PSA also demonstrates communication and collaboration.

ACTION
Before-class preparation:
Request the computer lab for three days (M/W/F) a week for the next two weeks from 1:00- 2:00. Have one student in each group create a login and password for teacher tube.

Student groupings:
The students will be grouped 2 females in a group, no more than 6 member in a group. One gifted, One ELL
Environmental modifications:
The students can collaborate on their PSA project by using the class blog to discuss during and outside of class. They can make changes to their PSA on their own time outside of the M/W/F 1:00-2:00 class time.

MONITOR
The students can monitor their project themselves using the class blog and I can as well.

Ongoing assessment(s):
The students will continue to gather information about obesity and how to prevent it. They will re-record any parts of their PSA that are unclear or inaccurate.
They can blog on our class website outside of class time to monitor the creation and editing of their PSA.
Accommodations and extensions:
Diverse learners will be able to utilize the tutorial that is audio as well as visual to help create the PSA and the use of the site teacher tube anytime to clarify if needed. It is located on the home page of teacher tube.
Backup plan:
The students can load their findings on the voice thread website instead of on teacher tube. The class has learned how to create a voice thread earlier in the semester.

EVALUATE AND EXTEND

Lesson reflections and notes:
Daily monitoring with a check list that the students created in a previous lesson
Circulate around the class while they are working in groups in the computer lab
Create a criteria chart with what is require in the public service announcement
Have the student present their public service announcement in a culminating task to the class
